Flathead Food Bank Backpack Program

School is back in session, and we couldn’t find a better time to tell you all about the Flathead Food Bank Backpack Program. Kalispell Auto Group has supported the program for many years now. This program provides children with nutritious and easy- to- prepare food to take home when other resources and school meals are not available.”

In Montana, 1 in 6 children are food insecure, and 16.9% are in Flathead Valley County alone. In the 2020-2021 school year, approximately 550 children a week received a bag distributed between 19 schools. That is over 13,000 bags and more than 65,000 meals and snacks to kids in head start to 8th grade. The Flathead Food Bank also deliver bags during the summer time.

We believe children should be sent home happy and not hungry. This is why we create the goal each year of raising 20,000$ in the month of August. With the help of the valley, we have reached our goal year in and year out. During August fifty dollars from every vehicle sold in the auto group goes towards the program. If customers aren’t quite ready to purchase a car, we also accept cash donations at either of the stores. Our staff does an amazing job being involved and gathering funds as they create awareness by telling their customers.
