Kalispell Volkswagen’s Drive to Support the BackPack Program and Nourish Local Children

Can you believe it’s almost time for the new school year here in Flathead Valley? The excitement is in the air, and we’re feeling it too at Kalispell Volkswagen. But you know what’s even more exciting? Making sure that every student has what they need to thrive in the classroom. Did you know that about 12.1% of the local kids in Flathead Valley are facing food insecurity? It’s a concern we can’t ignore, and that’s why we’re all about making a positive impact by donating to the Flathead Valley Food bank Backpack Program.

Let’s talk about the heroes over at the Flathead Food Bank. These folks are on a mission to ensure that no one in our community goes to bed hungry. And guess what? They’ve got a superhero program called the BackPack Program. This thing is a game-changer, and we’re thrilled to tell you all about it.

The BackPack Program teams up with teachers, counselors, and school staff from over 20 schools right here in Flathead Valley. Their mission? To spot those students who might need a bit of extra help. These are the kids who could use a hand, and that’s where the BackPack Program steps in.

Every weekend, these amazing students receive a special bag filled with goodies. Including breakfast, lunch, juice, milk – and of course, a treat for each day they’re away from school. And here’s the cool part – everything is set up and discreetly handed out on the last school day before the weekend or a holiday. It’s a quiet way of making sure these kids have enough to eat, even when the regular school meals aren’t available. Likewise, the food is all kid-friendly and super easy to prepare.

Now here’s the jaw-dropping part – right here in our very own Flathead Valley, the BackPack Program reaches out to over 450 students. Therefore, providing a whopping 73,000 meals every single year. That’s the kind of impact that makes a real difference in our community.

Our Goal

We’re all about being good community members, and that’s not just a catchphrase. It’s a commitment we take seriously. Throughout the whole month of August, all three of our dealerships – Kalispell Ford, Kalispell Toyota, and us, Kalispell Volkswagen – are coming together for something amazing. To explain, for every vehicle we sell, we’re giving $50 to the BackPack Program. Our goal? To raise a whopping $20,000. We’ve been at it for years, and we’re sticking to it because we believe in this amazing cause.
