Sales Frequently Asked Questions

What is Volkswagen Sign then Drive?

Volkswagen Sign Then Drive is a special promotional program offered by Volkswagen. This program helps simplify the car leasing process. With Sign Then Drive, eligible customers can lease a new Volkswagen vehicle without having to make a down payment, thus, providing a convenient and hassle-free leasing and sales experience.

The program allows customers to sign the lease agreement and drive off in their new Volkswagen vehicle, all without the upfront payment typically associated with leasing. This means that you can easily enjoy the benefits of leasing a Volkswagen by driving a new vehicle with lower monthly payments, compared to financing a purchase where you must make a larger financial commitment and jump through more hoops.

Volkswagen Sign Then Drive often includes other benefits as well. These include covering the first month’s lease payment and waiving acquisition fees. This can make it an attractive option for individuals who prefer a low-cost, low-commitment way of driving a new Volkswagen.

It’s important to note that eligibility for the Volkswagen Sign Then Drive program may vary based on various factors, including credit history, residency, and the specific offers available. It’s recommended to visit Kalispell Volkswagen to consult with a member of our sales team. You can also check Volkswagen’s official website for the most up-to-date information on the program and its availability.

How long is the new Volkswagen car warranty and what does it cover?

New Volkswagen vehicles come with a comprehensive warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first – as well as a powertrain warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

A comprehensive vehicle warranty, also known as a bumper-to-bumper warranty or a new vehicle limited warranty, covers a wide range of components and systems in a vehicle. While the specific coverage can vary depending on the warranty terms, here are some common elements covered by a comprehensive vehicle warranty:

  1. Mechanical Components: This includes coverage for the engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, steering, brake system, and electrical systems.
  2. Parts and Labor: The warranty usually covers the cost of parts and labor needed to repair or replace covered components that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship.
  3. Audio and Entertainment Systems: Coverage often extends to the factory-installed audio systems, infotainment systems, navigation systems, and related components.
  4. Climate Control Systems: This includes coverage for air conditioning and heating systems, including components like compressors, condensers, and controls.
  5. Safety Systems: The warranty covers safety-related components such as airbags, seat belts, traction control systems, and stability control systems.

It’s important to note that comprehensive vehicle warranties may have certain exclusions and limitations. Regular maintenance, wear and tear items, and damage caused by accidents or improper use may not be covered. It’s recommended to review the warranty documentation or contact Kalispell Volkswagen for specific details and terms of the comprehensive warranty applicable to your particular vehicle.

What is the difference between leasing and financing?

Leasing and financing are two different methods of purchasing a vehicle, each with advantages and considerations. Here are the key differences between leasing and financing:

Ownership

When you finance a vehicle, you are purchasing it and become the owner once you complete the loan payments. On the other hand, when you lease a vehicle, you are essentially driving it for a specified period, and do not own the vehicle.

Monthly Payments

Financing involves monthly payments toward the total cost of the vehicle, including interest charges, until the loan is fully repaid. Leasing involves lower monthly payments since you are only paying for the vehicle’s depreciation during the stated lease term.

Vehicle Return

At the end of a financing term, you have full ownership of the vehicle and can choose to keep it, trade it in, or sell it. With a lease, you return the vehicle to Volkswagen at the end of the lease term. You can also choose to purchase it at a predetermined price (residual) which is given to you at the time of your lease signing.

Mileage and Customization

Financing allows you to drive the vehicle as much as you want without mileage restrictions and make any desired modifications. Leasing, however, has mileage limits (usually between 10,000 and 15,000 miles per year) and prohibits extensive modifications to the vehicle.

Long-Term Costs

Financing leads to higher total costs since you are paying for the full purchase price of the vehicle, plus interest charges. Leasing can provide lower monthly costs but may involve additional fees, such as mileage overage charges and wear-and-tear fees when returning the vehicle. Kalispell Volkswagen offers a variety of products and insurance options to protect you from paying additional fees at the end of your lease. These include our Northwest Package, Excessive Wear and Use (EWU), and Term Protection. For more information on these products, you can reach out to our Sales team at 406-752-8989.

The decision between leasing and financing depends on your personal preferences, financial situation, and driving habits. Financing offers eventual ownership, while leasing provides lower monthly payments and the opportunity to drive a new vehicle more frequently. It’s essential to consider your needs and discuss all of your options with our friendly sales team at Kalispell Volkswagen to determine which option aligns best with your circumstances.

Can I lease a used vehicle at Kalispell Volkswagen?

We do not lease used vehicles at Kalispell Volkswagen. When you lease a vehicle, you are paying for the depreciation of that vehicle for the stated lease term. Used vehicles tend to depreciate more rapidly causing the lease payment to be higher than if you were to finance it in most cases. Because we are transparent in everything we do and want to put our customers in the best financial position possible we do not offer leases on our used inventory.

Our Product Specialists are paid on your satisfaction instead of a commission. If you want to lease a new Volkswagen, we are more than happy to go over all of your lease options on any of our new Volkswagen models. Likewise, if you want to purchase a used vehicle we can inform you of all of your purchase options so you can make an informed decision that is best for you.

What if I still owe money on my current car?

It is possible to trade in your vehicle even if you still owe money on it. However, there are a few things to consider when trading in a vehicle with an outstanding loan:

Equity and Negative Equity

If the trade-in value of your vehicle is higher than the amount you owe on the loan, you have positive equity. In this case, we can apply the equity toward the purchase of your new vehicle or provide you with a check. On the other hand, if the trade-in value is lower than the outstanding loan balance, you have negative equity. This can also be referred to as a negative trade-in value. This means you owe more on the loan than your vehicle’s current value.

Rolling Over Negative Equity

If you have negative equity, we may be able to include the remaining loan balance in the financing of your new vehicle, or “rolling over” the remaining amount you owe. While this option allows you to trade in your vehicle, it increases the loan amount for the new vehicle. This can potentially result in higher monthly payments or an extended loan term.

Clearing the Loan

Another option is to pay off the remaining loan balance before trading in the vehicle. You can do this by either paying off the loan with cash or securing a loan from a financial institution to cover the outstanding balance. Once the loan is cleared, you can proceed with trading in the vehicle.

Discussing your individual situation with our friendly Sales team at Kalispell Volkswagen can help you make an informed decision based on your specific circumstances.

Can I order a new Volkswagen?

We can place an order for any new Volkswagen model with the exception of the Golf R. To place an order you must have a consultation with one of our friendly Product Specialists who will go over all the options and features you need and want on the vehicle. Next, we will go over the pricing information including all taxes and fees. We require a $500.00 fully refundable deposit to place an order. The estimated time for a vehicle order to arrive at Kalispell Volkswagen is 4-6 months. However, this can sometimes take longer depending on the availability of vehicles and delays in parts and shipping beyond the control of Kalispell Volkswagen.

Our Sales team will keep you updated regularly on the status of your order. For additional questions, you can give us a call at 406-752-8989. You can place an order for a new Volkswagen at our dealership or online.
